Editorial standards
How our research works.
GarageFlow recommendations begin with the storage problem—not a retailer search page. We define the use case, identify the measurements and safety constraints, then compare products that can credibly solve it.
Primary-source research
We prioritize current manufacturer product pages, installation manuals, warranty documents, safety instructions, and model-specific literature. Retailer listings are used to confirm the exact purchasable variant and affiliate destination, not to override manufacturer documentation.
Selection standards
- Documented dimensions and load ratings
- Clear installation and structural requirements
- Stable model identity and meaningful warranty support
- A useful distinction from the other recommended products
- Reasonable long-term accessory or replacement availability
Research is not hands-on testing
Unless a page explicitly describes GarageFlow’s test protocol and observations, the product has not been physically tested by GarageFlow. We do not convert owner ratings or manufacturer demonstrations into claims of independent testing.
Affiliate independence
GarageFlow may receive a commission when a reader purchases through an affiliate link. Rankings are decided editorially. A strong non-affiliate product can be recommended, and a weak affiliate product can be excluded.
Corrections and updates
Products, specifications, prices, and availability change. Guides display their research date and should be rechecked before purchase. Material corrections update the affected recommendation and its evidence notes.
